Welcome to An Echo Sounded, the blog for Rowan University students interested in writing, sponsored by Rowan University’s Writing Arts Department. Although there are multiple print publications on the university’s campus to which students might contribute, such publications are limited by issues of space, content, time, and money in a way that online writing largely circumvents. The benefit of online writing spaces is their flexibility and we intend to capitalize upon that.
But more important than being flexible, this blog is meant to be active, reactive, and interactive. With luck, there should be a rolling submissions process with pieces published as soon as they are received. Contributors are welcome to submit any type of creative writing they choose, including re-submissions of workshopped pieces. Writers can decide whether to put their names on it or not, and whether to open it up for constructive critique or to let it stand. The ultimate goal is to give writers a common, largely unrestricted space to share their work, to read the work of others, and to discuss anything and everything related to writing.
With regards to submissions: All submissions can be sent to swamaru@gmail.com. Please attach the submission as a Word document; if this is not possible, then submit your piece in the body of the e-mail. All submissions will be published in the form in which they are received, including mechanical and formatting errors, so please be aware of this before you send. Please include a title, your name*, and whether you want commenting enabled.*
* = optional but encouraged. With regards to commenting: Please keep all comments constructive. All comments will be moderated lightly to avoid trolls or flamewars but will remain uncensored otherwise.
